§ 21702 Animal Sale Documentation Requirements

Key Takeaways

  • •You must get a written paper when you buy, sell, or get an animal for free.
  • •The paper must say what kind of animal it is, how many, the breed, if it's male or female, and if it has a brand, where the brand is.
  • •This rule is for everyone who gives or gets an animal, even if it's a gift.

Example

You buy a horse from a farmer.

The farmer must give you a paper that says it's one horse, what kind it is, if it's a boy or girl, and if it has a brand, where that brand is on the horse. If the farmer doesn't give you this paper, they're breaking the law.
