§ 11734 County Pest Control Fees

This law lets each county set a reasonable fee for the registration required by Section 11732, and says that for pest‑control businesses the fee can only be as high as the actual cost of registration, but never more than $25 a year.

Key Takeaways

  • •Counties can set any reasonable registration fee for most businesses.
  • •For pest‑control businesses, the fee can’t be higher than the actual cost of registration.
  • •Even if the cost is higher, the fee is capped at $25 per year.

Example

A pest‑control company in County X wants to register to operate. The county calculates that it costs $18 to process the paperwork.

Because the fee can’t be higher than the cost of registration and also can’t exceed $25, the company will pay $18 for its yearly registration.

How to Calculate

Fee = min(Cost_of_Registration, $25)

  1. Find out how much it actually costs the county to register the business (Cost_of_Registration).
  2. Compare that cost to $25.
  3. The fee you must pay is the lower of the two numbers.

A pest‑control business in a county where the registration cost is $30 per year.

Result: Fee = min($30, $25) = $25
