• •Tree surgeons don’t need a license for removing diseased tissue or applying disinfectants to trees.
• •Doing any other pest‑control work (like spraying insects) requires a license from the director.
• •You must also register with the commissioner and follow all other rules in the pest‑control division.

A tree‑trimmer removes a rotten branch from an oak and applies a disinfectant to the wound.

Because this is part of tree surgery, the trimmer can do it without a pest‑control license. If the same person later wants to spray insecticide on a garden, they must first get a license and register with the state.
