§ 6543 Presidential Primary Delegate Certification

Key Takeaways

  • •The Secretary of State must tell each county how many delegates the American Independent Party can choose for the presidential primary.
  • •This must be done at least 110 days before the presidential primary.
  • •This rule has been in place since January 1, 1999.

Example

Imagine it's almost time for the presidential primary election.

The Secretary of State has to send a letter to every county, saying how many people the American Independent Party can send to represent them at the big election meeting. They have to do this really early, like 110 days before the election, so everyone has time to prepare.
