§ 15206 Counting Board Dismissal Authority

This law lets the elections official—or a deputy they pick—remove anyone from a vote‑counting board and make sure the removal is followed.

Key Takeaways

  • •The elections official can kick someone off a counting board.
  • •A deputy chosen by the official can do the same thing.
  • •The order to leave must be obeyed.

Example

During a close election, a board member starts arguing loudly and slowing down the count.

The elections official can tell that person to leave the board, and the person must go, because the law gives the official that power.
