§ 88247 Instructional Aide Classification Rules

Key Takeaways

  • •Instructional aides are not counted as teachers when the state gives money to schools.
  • •Instructional aides are school workers, not teachers, and get the same benefits as other school workers like janitors or office staff.
  • •If a group of students works with an instructional aide, it doesn’t count as a real class for funding.

Example

A school has a group of kids getting extra help from an instructional aide in reading.

The school won’t get extra money from the state for this group because the aide isn’t a teacher, and the group isn’t counted as a real class.
