§ 87010 Sex Offense Definitions

Key Takeaways

  • •This law lists what counts as a 'sex offense' in California.
  • •It includes crimes like rape, sexual abuse of kids, and indecent exposure.
  • •Even trying to do these crimes (but failing) counts as a sex offense.
  • •If you did something in another state that would be a sex crime in California, it counts here too.

Example

If someone touches a child in a sexual way, even over their clothes, that’s a crime.

This law says that kind of behavior is a 'sex offense' and can get the person in big trouble with the police.
