§ 74107 District Territory Transfer Approval

Key Takeaways

  • •The county committee must share the petition and report with the district boards and the board of governors within 90 days after letting the public comment.
  • •A transfer of territory can only happen if most members of the board of the district receiving the territory agree to all the conditions in a public meeting.
  • •After the public meeting, the receiving board must send back the petition, their agreement, and a notice of what they decided to the county committee.

Example

A small town wants to move from one school district to another because the new district has better schools.

The county committee shares the town's request and a report with both school districts. The new school district's board must hold a public meeting and agree to take the town. If they agree, they send the papers back to the county committee to make it official.
