§ 56342 Iep Team Placement Decisions

Key Takeaways

  • •A team of people at school will look at test results to see if a kid needs special help in school.
  • •They decide what kind of help the kid needs and where the kid should go to school.
  • •They also think about how the kid will get to school, like if they need a bus or special ride.
  • •The school must follow special rules to make sure the kid gets the right help and goes to the right school.

Example

A kid named Jamie has trouble reading and writing.

The school team will look at Jamie's test scores and talk to Jamie's teachers and parents. They will decide if Jamie needs extra help, like a special reading class. They will also figure out if Jamie should stay in the regular classroom or go to a different school. They will make sure Jamie can get to school safely, maybe with a special bus.
