§ 45350 Class Size Reduction Assistants

Key Takeaways

  • •This law helps kids in grades 1 to 6 learn better by making classes smaller and giving teachers helpers called teacher assistants.
  • •Teacher assistants must finish a 2-year college program and pass a special test to work in classrooms.
  • •The helpers work with the main teacher to teach subjects like reading, math, and science.
  • •The goal is to make sure kids get more attention and learn more in school.

Example

Imagine a 3rd-grade class with 30 kids. The teacher has a hard time helping everyone with their math problems.

This law allows the school to hire a teacher assistant who has finished college and passed a test. The assistant can help the teacher by working with small groups of kids, making it easier for everyone to learn math.
