§ 44844 Employee Seniority Date Rules

Key Takeaways

  • •If you started working as a probationary or permanent employee before July 1, 1947, your start date is when you first took the job.
  • •This rule applies unless other sections (44831 to 44855) say something different.
  • •It’s about how long you’ve been working, not when you got permanent status.

Example

A teacher started working as a probationary employee on June 1, 1946, and became permanent later.

Under this law, their official start date is June 1, 1946, not when they became permanent.
