§ 23003 Delinquent Payment Penalties

Key Takeaways

  • •If a school or district doesn't pay their required money on time, they get fined.
  • •They also have to pay extra money (interest) if they are late with payments.
  • •The rules for these fines and extra charges are set by the board.

Example

A school district forgets to pay their monthly contribution to the state education fund.

The district will get a fine for being late, and they’ll also have to pay interest on the money they owe, just like when you pay a credit card bill late.
