§ 22210 Board Reversal Of Benefits

Key Takeaways

  • •If the board changes a decision made by the committee or the boss, the change happens on the date the board picks.
  • •If someone already got paid benefits before the board changed the decision, they usually don’t have to pay it back unless the board says so.
  • •The board can ask for the money back from the person who got it if they decide to.

Example

Imagine your school gives you lunch money by mistake because they thought you qualified, but later the school board realizes you didn’t. They decide to take the money back.

The school board can say, 'You got the lunch money, but now you have to pay it back because we made a mistake.' They can only ask for the money back after they officially decide to reverse the decision.
