§ 19991 Grant-Funded Construction Bidding

• •If the government helps pay for a building project, the job must be given to the lowest bidder.
• •The rules for picking the builder are in another part of the law (Part 3 of Division 2 of the Public Contract Code).
• •This rule applies to all building projects that get money from this law.

A city wants to build a new park and gets some money from the government to help pay for it.

The city can't just pick their favorite builder. They have to ask different builders how much they would charge and pick the one with the lowest price.
