§ 19431 Library Board Expansion Proposal

• •People can ask to add more members to the library board in two ways.
• •First way: Get a petition signed by at least 5% of voters in the library area who voted in the last big election.
• •Second way: The library board itself can decide to add more members and tell the supervisors.
• •The request must be given to the supervisors in charge of the library area.

A small town has a library with only 3 people on its board. Some townsfolk think 3 isn't enough and want 5 people instead.

If at least 5% of the people who voted in the last big election sign a paper asking for more board members, the supervisors have to consider it. Or, if the current library board agrees they need more help, they can just ask the supervisors themselves.
