§ 17386 School District Quitclaim Deeds

Key Takeaways

  • •School boards can give away small pieces of land they own to neighbors.
  • •This is only for fixing problems with property lines or ownership papers.
  • •They can do this for free or charge money, whatever they decide.

Example

Your backyard fence is actually 2 feet onto school property because of an old mistake in the property papers.

The school board can sign a paper to give you that 2-foot strip so your property line is correct and there’s no more confusion.
