§ 17325 Private School Building Exemption

Key Takeaways

  • •Small private schools (one story, 2,000 sq ft or less) don’t have to follow some building rules.
  • •This only applies to certain building types (Type V and Type II N).
  • •The rule started in 1998.

Example

A small private school builds a one-story wooden classroom that’s 1,500 square feet.

Because it’s one story, under 2,000 sq ft, and the right building type, it doesn’t have to follow all the usual building rules.
