§ 17302 Architect Structural Engineer Plans

Key Takeaways

  • •Big building plans must be made by a licensed architect or structural engineer.
  • •These experts must also watch over the building work to make sure it's done right.
  • •For things like electrical or mechanical work, a licensed engineer in that area can make the plans and watch over the work.
  • •If the work involves building design or structure, an architect or structural engineer must handle that part.

Example

You want to build a new house.

You need to hire a licensed architect to draw up the plans for your house. This architect will also need to check on the building work to make sure everything is being built correctly. If your house needs special electrical work, a licensed electrical engineer can plan and watch over that part.
