§ 16716 School District Reimbursement Rules

Key Takeaways

  • •Schools get paid back for things they spend money on, but only if the state approves it first.
  • •If a school starts spending money or working on something before asking the state, they might not get paid back.
  • •The state has to say 'yes' in a special way (a resolution) if the school already spent money before asking.

Example

A school buys new computers for the classroom before asking the state for money.

If the school didn’t ask the state first, they might not get paid back for those computers. The state has to say it’s okay in a special vote.
