§ 16009 Board Powers And Duties

This law lets the board make up rules and requirements for school districts to qualify for and use the money that this program provides.

Key Takeaways

  • •The board can create qualifications for districts to receive funds, as long as they don’t clash with other rules.
  • •The board can set up procedures, policies, and forms for how the money is managed and spent.
  • •The board can adopt any needed rules and regulations for running the program.

Example

A school district wants a grant to buy new computers. The board says the district must first show a plan for how the computers will be used and prove they have enough money to keep them running.

Because the board set those qualifications, the district follows the plan and then gets the grant. If it didn’t meet the board’s rules, it wouldn’t get the money.
