§ 10501 Regional Education Data Centers

This law says a regional school data center can be set up either by a single huge school district (100,000+ students) or by a county superintendent serving several districts that together have between 100,000 and 300,000 students.

Key Takeaways

  • •A single district can have its own data center only if it has at least 100,000 daily students.
  • •A county superintendent can run a shared data center for two or more districts.
  • •The combined student count for the shared center must be between 100,000 and 300,000.
  • •No other types of data centers are covered by this section.

Example

A county superintendent runs a data center for three nearby school districts that together have 150,000 students.

Because the three districts together have more than 100,000 but less than 300,000 students, the county superintendent can create one shared data center for them under this law.
