§ 25703 Severability Of Provisions

Key Takeaways

  • •If one part of the law is found to be invalid or doesn't work, the rest of the law can still be used.
  • •The law is designed so that if one piece is broken, the other pieces can still work on their own.
  • •This rule helps keep the law useful even if a small part of it has problems.

Example

Imagine a law that says you can't park in certain spots and also can't litter in the park.

If a judge says the part about parking is unfair, the rule about not littering can still be enforced. The law doesn't just disappear because one part is broken.
