§ 10217 Lease Goods Identification Rules

This law explains when rented items officially become the ones mentioned in a rental agreement. It can happen when both sides agree, when the items are shipped or marked, or even when baby animals are born if that's what's being rented.

Key Takeaways

  • •You and the rental company can agree on when the rented items are officially chosen.
  • •If you don't agree, the items are chosen when the rental agreement is signed (if they already exist).
  • •If the items don't exist yet (like baby animals), they're chosen when they're born or made.

Example

You rent a cow that's pregnant.

The baby calf becomes part of your rental as soon as it's born, even if it wasn't alive when you signed the rental agreement.
