§ 10206 Lease Offer Acceptance Rules

This law says that when someone offers to rent something, the other person can accept the offer in any normal way. If the person offering doesn't hear back in a reasonable time, they can assume the offer is no longer valid.

Key Takeaways

  • •You can accept a rental offer in any normal way, like texting or calling.
  • •If the person offering doesn’t hear back in a reasonable time, they can cancel the offer.
  • •Starting to use the rental item can sometimes count as accepting the offer.

Example

You offer to rent your bike to a friend for $10 a day.

Your friend can accept by texting you, calling you, or even starting to use the bike if that makes sense. But if you don’t hear from them for a long time, you can assume they’re not interested anymore.
