§ 9352 Stop Payment Notice Requirements

Key Takeaways

  • •If you want to stop payment for work, you must fill out a special form correctly.
  • •The form must say what work was done and how much money is owed for that work.
  • •You can only ask for money that was earned before you sent the form.

Example

You hired someone to fix your roof, but they didn’t finish the job. You don’t want to pay them for the work they didn’t do.

You can send a stop payment notice, but you must write down what work was done and how much you owe for only the work that was actually completed before you sent the notice.
