§ 9852 Contractor Registration Requirement

Key Takeaways

  • •If you fix or install stuff in someone's car or home, you must have the right license to do that job.
  • •If you don’t have the right license, you can’t ask for money or sue the person for not paying you.
  • •This rule is for people who are supposed to have a license but don’t.

Example

A person hires someone to fix their broken sink, but the plumber doesn’t have a valid license.

The plumber can’t make the person pay for the work or take them to court if they refuse to pay, because the plumber didn’t follow the license rule.
