§ 17015 Welfare Fraud Disqualification Rules

Key Takeaways

  • •If you lie or hide the truth to get government help (like money for your family), you can be denied that help.
  • •Lying includes saying fake things, hiding important facts, or tricking the government on purpose.
  • •If a court or a special government meeting finds you guilty of lying, you won’t get help for a certain time.
  • •The time you can’t get help depends on what the court or government meeting decides.

Example

A parent doesn’t tell the government they got a new job so they can keep getting money for their kids.

This is lying to get help, so the government can stop giving them money for a while.
