§ 14475 Health Plan Conflict Rules

Key Takeaways

  • •If a state worker or their family owns a big part of a health plan company, the state can't hire that company.
  • •This rule stops people from making money unfairly by using their state job.
  • •Even small deals with the health plan company are not allowed if a state worker's family is involved.

Example

A state worker's wife owns a lot of stock in a health insurance company.

The state can't sign a contract with that company because it would be unfair.
