§ 11001 Public Assistance Non-Pauper Status

This law says that just because someone gets help from the government, they shouldn't be called poor or treated like they are. The checks they get won't say anything about them being poor.

Key Takeaways

  • •Getting help from the government doesn't mean you're officially 'poor'.
  • •The checks or payments you get won't say you're poor.
  • •People can't treat you differently just because you get this help.

Example

A single mom gets money from the government to help buy food for her kids.

No one can call her poor just because she gets this help, and the check she gets won't say she's poor.
