§ 8570 Board Copy Fee Revenue

Key Takeaways

  • •If the board charges money for making copies of its records, that money doesn't stay with the board.
  • •Every month, all the money from copying records must be sent to the State Treasurer.
  • •The money is used for the board's general costs, like office supplies or bills.

Example

You ask a government board for a copy of a public record, and they charge you $5 for it.

That $5 doesn’t go into the board’s pocket. Instead, it gets sent to the state’s money manager every month to help pay for things like paper, printers, or other office needs.
