§ 8129 County Funding For Improvements

Key Takeaways

  • •If the county doesn't have enough money for projects like fixing roads or building parks, they can raise money in two ways.
  • •They can add a new tax to get the money they need.
  • •They can also borrow money by selling bonds, which they have to pay back later.
  • •The county leaders (called the board of supervisors) decide if they need to do this.

Example

Your town wants to build a new playground, but there isn't enough money in the town's bank account.

The town leaders can either ask everyone to pay a little more in taxes to build the playground, or they can borrow the money by selling bonds and pay it back over time.
