§ 75616 Water Facility Registration Penalties

• •If you own a place that takes water out of the ground (like a well) and you don’t sign up with the district or send them your water reports, you’ll get a fine.
• •The fine is 10% of whatever amount the district says you owe.
• •You’ll also have to pay extra money (interest) on top of the fine if you’re late.

A farmer has a well to water his crops but forgets to tell the district about it and doesn’t send in his water reports.

The district finds out and says the farmer owes them $5,000 for the water he used. Because he didn’t register or send reports, he gets a fine of 10% of $5,000, which is $500. He also has to pay interest if he’s late.
