• •This law is for big counties with 503,000 to 600,000 people.
• •It sets a fixed price for groundwater per acre-foot (about 326,000 gallons).
• •Non-farm water (like for homes or businesses) has a different price than farm water.
• •The local board decides how much more non-farm water costs compared to farm water.

A county with 550,000 people charges farmers $100 per acre-foot for water. The board decides non-farm water should cost 3 times more.

If you use water for your home or business, you pay $300 per acre-foot. If you're a farmer, you pay $100 for the same amount.
