§ 6026 Local Dam Regulation Limits

Key Takeaways

  • •Cities and counties can't make their own rules about dams or reservoirs.
  • •They can't control how big a dam is or how much water it holds.
  • •They can only make rules if the dam isn't already controlled by the state or another agency.

Example

A town wants to make a rule saying no dam can be taller than 50 feet.

The town can't do this because the state says only the state can make rules about dams.
