§ 22177 Sewage Service Connection Fees

Key Takeaways

  • •The city can charge fees to connect to the sewer system to help pay for it.
  • •They can also charge regular fees (like every year) to keep the sewer system running.
  • •Only the people who use the sewer system have to pay these fees.
  • •If only part of the city uses the sewer, only those people pay for it.

Example

A new neighborhood gets connected to the city's sewer system.

The city can charge each home a one-time fee to help pay for connecting them. Then, every year, they can charge a smaller fee to keep the sewers working. Only the homes in this neighborhood pay these fees, not the whole city.
