§ 14074 Federal Arbitrage Rebate Rules

Key Takeaways

  • •The state can use money from a special fund to pay back extra profits to the federal government if needed.
  • •If the special fund can't be used, the state will pay from its main money pot or other places.
  • •The state can make deals or buy things to follow federal tax rules about this fund.

Example

Imagine the state makes extra money from investments in a special fund.

If the federal government says, 'Hey, you made too much money, give some back,' the state can use that same fund to pay it back. If they can't, they'll use other money instead.
