§ 13857 Safe Drinking Water Definitions

Key Takeaways

  • •This law defines special words used in rules about clean drinking water in California.
  • •A 'domestic water system' is a system that gives water to at least 15 homes or 25 people.
  • •A 'project' can mean building or fixing things like pipes or water treatment plants to make water safe to drink.
  • •The law mentions a special group called the 'Safe Drinking Water Finance Committee' that helps with these rules.

Example

A small town wants to fix its old water pipes so people can have clean water.

The town's water system is a 'domestic water system' because it gives water to many homes. Fixing the pipes is a 'project' under this law, and the town might get help from the 'Safe Drinking Water Finance Committee' to pay for it.
