§ 13802 Well Construction Standards

Key Takeaways

  • •This law is about keeping water clean and safe by setting rules for wells.
  • •The rules cover how to build, take care of, and close down wells properly.
  • •The regional board decides where these rules are needed and tells the local cities and counties.
  • •The rules are made to protect water that people use or might use in the future.

Example

A farmer wants to dig a new well on their land to water their crops.

The regional board might have rules for how deep the well should be, what materials to use, and how to close it if it’s not used anymore. This is to make sure the water stays clean and safe for the farmer and their neighbors.
