§ 13100 Water Board Organization

Key Takeaways

  • •There is a big group called the State Water Resources Control Board in California.
  • •This group has smaller teams called regional water quality control boards.
  • •The big group and its smaller teams have rules about who is in them and some of the jobs they do.
  • •These rules are written in another part of the law book, starting at Section 174.

Example

Imagine you live near a river, and a factory starts dumping dirty water into it.

The State Water Resources Control Board and its smaller teams are like the referees who make sure the factory follows the rules to keep the river clean. They check who is on their team and what jobs they need to do to stop the factory from polluting the river.
