§ 12912 Water Fund Revenue Deposits

Key Takeaways

  • •The California Water Fund gets money from different places like projects, gifts, and bonds.
  • •Money from projects can be used for the fund, but some must stay to pay for project costs like repairs and loans.
  • •The fund also gets money from investments and other special state funds.
  • •If the state gets money from working with the federal government on water projects, some of that money goes into the fund too.

Example

The state builds a dam with money from the California Water Fund. The dam makes money by selling water to farmers.

Some of the money from selling water goes back into the California Water Fund, but first, they take out money to pay for dam repairs, workers' salaries, and loans used to build the dam.
