§ 12881 State Water Project Funding

Key Takeaways

  • •The state helps pay for water projects that are important for both local areas and the whole state.
  • •Help can be money given as gifts (grants) or money that must be paid back (loans).
  • •The state can also help build and run these water projects.
  • •The state can lend money to study if a water project is a good idea before building it.

Example

A small town needs a new dam to store water for farms and homes, but it’s too expensive for them alone.

The state can give the town money (a grant or loan) to help build the dam because it helps the town and the whole state. They can also help study if the dam will work well before building it.
