§ 1112 Hearing Officer Jurisdiction Rules

This law says that a special hearing officer must handle certain important cases, like complaints or license revocations, unless other issues are involved. The officer can also help with other tasks if it doesn’t interfere with their main job.

Key Takeaways

  • •A hearing officer handles cases like complaints, cease-and-desist orders, and license revocations.
  • •If the case includes other unrelated issues, the hearing officer might not preside.
  • •The hearing officer can help with other tasks, like mediations, if it doesn’t slow down their main work.

Example

A restaurant’s liquor license is being taken away because they served alcohol to minors.

A hearing officer from the Administrative Hearings Office must preside over the hearing to decide if the license should be revoked, unless there are other unrelated issues involved.
