Key Takeaways

  • •When you register your car, you get two papers: one says you own the car, and the other is your registration card.
  • •If you fully own the car (no loans), you get both papers.
  • •If you're still paying a loan on the car, the bank gets the ownership paper, and you get the registration card.

Example

You buy a car with a loan from the bank.

The bank gets the paper that says they own the car until you pay off the loan. You get the registration card to show you’re allowed to drive it.
