§ 99570 Transit Labor Negotiation Exemptions

Key Takeaways

  • •This law lets transit bosses and worker groups talk privately about work stuff without following the usual public meeting rules.
  • •Mediators, factfinders, or arbitrators can also have private meetings with them.
  • •The transit bosses can have secret talks with their team about work deals or how to handle worker talks.
  • •All this is only allowed if both sides don’t agree to make it public.

Example

A bus company and its drivers’ union are talking about pay raises.

They can have private meetings to discuss this without letting the public in, unless both sides say it’s okay to open it up.
