§ 98161 Employment Discrimination Protection

Key Takeaways

  • •Everyone has the right to get a job, keep it, and move up in it without being treated unfairly because of things like race, gender, or religion.
  • •If you are part of a group that talks to the boss for workers (like a union), your boss can't punish you, stop you from getting a promotion, or threaten you for doing that job.
  • •The law protects you from being treated badly at work for these reasons.

Example

A woman works at a factory and is part of a group that talks to the boss about better pay for all workers.

Her boss can't fire her, refuse to promote her, or threaten her just because she is part of that group. The law says that's not allowed.
