§ 92005 Voter Approved District Dissolution

Key Takeaways

  • •If most people vote 'yes' to end something (like a special district or program), it gets shut down.
  • •The people in charge must count the votes right after the election.
  • •They have to meet the Monday after the election to check the votes.

Example

A small town votes on whether to close their local library because it’s too expensive.

If more than half the voters say 'yes' to closing the library, then the library has to shut down. The town leaders must count all the votes and confirm the result the Monday after the vote.
