§ 913 Utility Program Cost Reporting

Key Takeaways

  • •Big electricity and gas companies in California (with lots of customers) must report their costs every year.
  • •The report must list all the programs they run, how much each costs, and who told them to do it (the government or the company itself).
  • •The report must also include costs for buying energy and other expenses that customers pay for in their bills.
  • •The report is sent to the Governor and lawmakers by April 1 every year and posted online for everyone to see.

Example

If a big electricity company in California spends money on a program to help people use less energy, they have to report how much it costs.

The company must tell the government and customers how much the program costs each year. This helps everyone know where their money is going.
