§ 90990 Annexation Resolution Filing

Key Takeaways

  • •If most voters say yes to adding new land to a district, the board must approve it.
  • •The board has to send a copy of their approval to the Secretary of State.
  • •The new land officially becomes part of the district once the Secretary of State gets the paperwork.

Example

A small town votes to join a nearby school district for better schools.

If most people in the town vote yes, the school board must approve the town joining. Then, they send the approval papers to the Secretary of State. Once those papers are filed, the town is officially part of the school district.
