§ 70219 Tax Redemption Payment Distribution

Key Takeaways

  • •If your house is sold because you didn't pay taxes, and you later pay the taxes to get it back, the money you paid goes to the right places.
  • •The county treasurer splits up the money you paid to get your house back.
  • •The money is split based on how much each tax group was supposed to get from the original sale.

Example

Imagine you didn't pay your property taxes, so the government sold your house. Later, you save up money and pay the taxes to get your house back.

The county treasurer will take the money you paid and split it up. If the school district was supposed to get 30% of the original tax money, they will get 30% of what you paid to get your house back.
