§ 6291 Franchise Compliance Forfeiture

Key Takeaways

  • •If a company gets special permission (a franchise) from the city to do something, they must follow the rules given to them.
  • •If the company breaks the rules and doesn’t fix the problem within 10 days after the city tells them to, the city can take away their permission.
  • •The company must not only start fixing the problem but also keep working on it until it’s completely fixed.

Example

A company gets permission from the city to put up phone towers. The rules say the towers must be painted gray, but the company paints them bright pink.

The city tells the company to repaint the towers gray. If the company doesn’t start repainting within 10 days or doesn’t finish the job quickly, the city can take away their permission to have the towers.
